Coachbuilder Teases Porsche Cayenne Coupe SUV Special

What you see here in these renderings isn't another conceptual design study but a teaser for a limited production coupe version of the Porsche Cayenne SUV from a UK-based tuning house called Merdad that is owned by someone who previously worked with Uwe Gemballa.

The tuning company says that buyers will have the option to base their car on either the current- or previous-generation Porsche Cayenne.

Aside from chopping off the rear doors, Medrad will also upgrade the Cayenne Turbo's 4.8-liter V8 boosting output by nearly 250 ponies to a total of 740-horsepower and allowing it to complete the 0 to 60 mph (96km/h) sprint in less than 4.4 seconds.

According to the tuning house, the package will also include further exterior and interior modifications, with more specific details to be released at a later date.

Project Kahn Readying Tuning Mods for New Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Here's a teaser photo of Project Kahn's upcoming show car based on Porsche's new Cayenne Turbo. No news on whether it will have performance upgrades or just be a wheel deal.

Even in bone-stock form a 500-horsepower second-gen Turbo hits sixty (that's 96km/h) in 4.4 seconds, so don't complain. Usually I'm not a big fan of aftermarket wheels, but these Kahn units sure do look good.

TechArt Styles-Up the New 2011 Porsche Cayenne

TechArt is unveiling the first of several new upgrades for the second generation of the Porsche Cayenne. For its first take on Stuttgart's SUV model, the German tuner has focused on the Cayenne's looks releasing a subtle optics package, full interior upgrades and custom wheels.

The exterior of the Cayenne can be upgraded with trims painted in custom color or in carbon fiber and sport tail pipes in polished stainless steel, while customers can also choose from a variety of alloy wheel designs in numerous colors and sizes between 20- and 23-inches. TechArt also offers an engine styling package that includes a carbon cover.

Interior enhancements include a full leather interior treatment in new color options, a three-spoke TechArt steering wheel with paddle shifters, aluminum pedals, a rear-seat-entertainment system, leather-edged logo floor mats and more.

Within the next few months, TechArt will release more upgrades for the new Cayenne including a full aero body kit and numerous performance kits.

New 2011 Porsche Cayenne CLR 550 GT by Lumma Design

The new Cayenne is significantly prettier than the lumpy, first-generation model Porsche released upon us. Now it resembles a legitimate X5 competitor. Still, Lumma Design wants to take it a step further with its wide-body CLR 550 GT.

For now, though, it's all just renderings.

Lumma is crafting an add-on lip spoiler with integrated fog lights, LED running lights, headlight trim, and a ton of carbon fiber bits for the Cayenne's front end.

Its carbon-Kevlar hood will feature functional cooling vents and be raised slightly to cover the windshield wipers (reducing drag) around the cowl area.

Down the sides you can see Lumma's signature extra-wide fenders covering 22- or 23-inch wheels, between which are special air-directing side skirts helping to cool the rear brakes.

At the rear is the rest of Lumma's kit, which is a rear bumper, taillight trim, and a diffuser housing a very unique three-tipped exhaust.

Above that, there's a carbon spoiler mid-hatch and another strip of carbon which somehow "provide additional power". Downforce, I understand, but can anyone explain how two lines of carbon fiber make power?

If you're looking for real power to go with the looks, you'll have to contact the German folks over at Lumma Design. This kit is purely for show.

Stallone's Mercury Coupe from Cobra Movie Inspires Porsche Cayenne Based Build in Russia

Russian Automotive Design (R.A.D.), who built a Cayenne-based Volga with Cardi, are currently working on a new project for a special customer: a Porsche Cayenne-based homage to Sly Stallone's AWSOM 50 Merc from the movie Cobra.

Instead of buying a real '50s classic (the actual car was at a Mecum auction last year), CarDesign says something more "suitable" for the Russian condition needed to be crafted.

R.A.D. is using steel for the space frame and fiberglass for the body panels, building a funky four-seater that will go like stink and possibly even have roof-mounted aerodynamic luggage carriers.

The wider, longer, retro Cayenne is expected to be completed later this year.
